Celebrating 50 years – The Jaguar XKE.

Two Boars was honored this past summer by being invited by Jaguar Historical to participate in the Fiftieth Year celebration of the XKE. This will be a rally, following the path of the first XKE to the Geneva Car Show, in 1961.

We leave Coventry on February 28th and drive to Geneva, arriving March 3d. Along the way there are track visits at Goodwood, Castle Coombe, and Circuit de Gueux, to remember the E’s racing days and champagne at Taittinger, to remember the extraordinary sensation that followed the E’s first bow.

Unfortunately, we were lacking an XKE. We had purchased a lightweight replica (lovely car) at Bonhams at The Quail but it turned out to have the wrong engine for the JD Series in England. So it was in bits and in other hands.

However, love for Jags is a powerful force and Tony O’Keeffe very kindly allowed us participate with this MKVIIM. This car has been entered for the mille miglia and a thousand mile run to Geneva seemed the perfect warmup. Also, the MKVII has space for the essentials that the E lacks. No way you can get two people and two cases of champagne in an E.
